MCALLEN VETERANS GREENBELT

We are planning a Veterans Green Belt to highlight our beautiful riparian ecosystem created along the McAllen Hike and Bike Trails. Phase I is planned along the McAllen 2nd St Hike and Bike Trail between Pecan and Firemen’s Park. Phase II is planed along the McAllen Bicentennial Hike and Bike Trail between Nolana and Bill Schupp Park.We plan to clean the trash out of the drainage canals and plant trees along the trail to provide shade to runners and habitat for our native wildlife. We have funding to install signage and QR codes linking visitors to information about the plants and wildlife that naturally inhabit the area. The space would become a living classroom for surrounding schools. We plan to plant 1,500 trees along 1.5 miles of McAllen Parks. We have received private funding from community members and one grant to kick off this project in 2026. This project will be completed with collaboration and donations from corporate sponsors. We look forward to collaborating with City of McAllen and other organizations on this project. Please write us below if you would like to participate as a corporate sponsor.
